My name is Raquel Redman & I am a first-grade teacher at Blake Primary. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from Slippery Rock University in 2013 with my Bachelors of Science. I moved to Parker in 2014 and worked as a substitute for about 2 years, including long-term sub positions at several schools within the district. I am currently in pursuance of my Masters of Education from Grand Canyon University’s AZ Teaching Intern Program and will graduate in April of 2019.
My vision as an educator is to ensure all of my students have a safe and motivating learning environment. I love to teach and love to learn, so my mission is to instill that same passion for learning in my students. I have high expectations for my first graders but have found that when the bar is set high, children almost always rise to the occasion. This year students will learn skills like addition, subtraction, telling time, etc. Class participation and the completion of classwork and homework are of the utmost importance, as students also build the foundation for reading, upon which their future education will be built.
